The Silverland Inn & Suites opened for business in September 2006 as a Ramada Inn and transitioned into an independent hotel in 2007. Built on the same property that once housed mills, foundries, brothels, and mining operations, it sits on 5 acres adjacent to the land which was once the ConVirginia Mining Company operations (site of the Big Bonanza- the largest silver and gold discovery in the history of the United States).
The Silverland has 66 guest rooms, 10 of which are suites with jacuzzis, and 5 of which are ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant. It offers an elevator, a ramp door for easy access into and out of the hotel, 24-hour camera surveillance, modern accommodations, and is within 2 blocks of the fire station and within 1 minute of law enforcement response. It is a non-smoking hotel.
Located across the street from the original Virginia & Truckee (V&T) Railroad freight depot which once serviced 75 trains a day, it is 2 blocks away from the downtown district and within easy walking distance of all local attractions, restaurants, stores, bars, and museums.
It is the largest and most modern hotel in Virginia City and has been the host of a variety of events, concerts, and occasions including the Camel & Ostrich Races, the Junior Rodeo, the Wild Horse Faire, the staging area for the Ferrari Hill Climb, and numerous others.
