The Washoe Club

Don’t miss The Washoe Club, Virginia City’s oldest saloon! In its original incarnation, this historic building served as a meeting place and social club for the recently made millionaires and elite society that flocked to the booming Comstock Lode area. Today visitors can take ghost tours of the reportedly haunted property, which explores all three floors of The Washoe Club. Take a ride on the historic V&T Railroad! Located just down the street from us, this scenic train ride departs from the original 1870 depot and takes guests to the historic town of Gold Hill. During the 35-minute round trip ride, you’ll pass by numerous Comstock mine sites and hear stories of the bonanzas that turned Virginia City into the richest city in the world. This affordable activity is entertaining for all ages and offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscape as well as the potential for spotting wildlife!

Silver Terrace Cemeteries

For something a little off-the-beaten-path, consider adding a visit to the Silver Terrace Cemeteries to your Virginia City itinerary. Set in the scenic hills on the north side of town, this unique cemetery offers visitors a glimpse into the diverse population that made up Virginia City during its heyday. Most plots date from before 1920 and are fenced or bordered, representative of the Victorian period in which they're from. While you're there, be sure to take a moment to appreciate the beautiful view as well!
